Smiths Lodges:
Bolton Lancashire: Smiths Lodge is close to where I live
and holds some great looking fish, as you can see from the picture
below Smiths is around 5 acre in size and holds a smaller water on
the same complex. Smiths Lodges holds a large selection of fish
ranging from Carp up to 40lb, pike in to the high 20s, specimen bream,
roach, and has perch up to 3lb.
Smiths it a beautiful venue and
in the summer months the water is surrounded by large Lilly pads,
which carp thrive upon. There are a mixed selection of fishing at
this venue and carp fishing is one of them, fishermen say that
Smiths Lodge is quite hard to fish, so please ensure you make a full
day of it... (Dawn till Dusk Only)
As far as accessibility is concerned, disabled
people would find it quite difficult to fish as access to the water
is inappropriate. (A few steps to attend too) If one could manage to
gain access to the venue, they would be limited to the road side
bank due to rough terrain the far side holds.
Best Baits:
People have tried and tested all kinds of baits on this
water, my advise is, use what you are confident in, there is a lot
of natural food in this water hence the ban on blood worm.
You will find that blood worm is the only banned bait other than
live bait for pike, many carp anglers tend to fish on the road side
and cast their lines to the Lilly pads which cover a large chunk of
the water.
Best
Pegs:
Best Pegs, again this is down to
being in the right place at the right time on this water, in the
warmer months the shallow end can be quite productive as can the
deeper ends. Top Tip!!! (Fish light and be prepared to move in an
instance) Smiths Lodges you can be found at Moses Gate, Farnworth,
Bolton, Lancashire. Smiths
Below is a picture of inside a pikes mouth, this
pike came from Smiths Lodge and looks like its been deep hooked at
some point, click the image to see it close up.
