The carp rig below is one I use when
fishing Bradshaw Fisheries in Bolton, the idea behind this rig
is to allow the angler to fish at any
preferred depth, although I’ve found its
best fished when the fish are feeding just
under the surface or just above the weed (a
great summer carp rig).
The rig is easy to setup as you can see from
the pictures but what you have to ensure is, the bread
chunks you are using as bait are big enough so that they
float to the surface once the weight hits the floor, don’t
be afraid of over doing it either, I’ve used 3inch square
bread cubes before now.
When you see your bread rise to the
surface after casting, you can set the depth by gently
pulling your rod back to the rest, judging how much line
you have actually pulled back before settling the rod on
the rest. You can also use this rig with heavier
equipment, 2oz leads, size 8s swivels, and 22mm popup
boilies. The rig has excellent anti tangle properties,
so again you can fish with confidence when using this
rig.
