Hulton Park Lake,
Atherton, Bolton.
Hulton Park Lake is a beautiful water which
stocks carp, perch, roach and tench. The venue can be located at
the top of Garthmere Road, Atherton and is open to senior
members of Bolton Anglers permit only. There are plenty of
tench, 2lb roach, perch and bream but there are no pike.
Carp have been caught to 24.5lb however a local lad told me that
some of carp have been stolen over the years and stocked in
another nearby water.
In the summer this water suffers from
vandalism, litter and youths swimming in the water when they
shouldn't do. The bailiff does a good job but when his back is
turned the trouble starts again, quite an impossible situation
to control at the moment but I'm hoping to change this by
introducing 4 more bailiffs, this might just help stop the
loutish behaviour which is going on.
Fishing can be good all round this venue
however if your carp fishing, you might want to try fishing
under the rhododendrons which are to the left of the picture
above. Perch fishing is also very good here, a worm or
small spinner is all you need and if you land on them you
can get catches of 2.5lb per fish.
If you do fish this water you must
prepare yourself for a walk with your tackle and when
carp fishing this can be a problem due to the amount of
tackle carp anglers carry when fishing.
If you have any pictures of fish which
you have caught from Hulton Park Lake please feel free
to send them in, we will display them on this page for
all to see.
Thanks.
