Merton Lodges are situated in Astley Bridge
Bolton, they are both situated at the top of Waverley Rd, just off Blackburn Rd.
Merton Lodges are owned and run by B&DAA and can be fished
provided you are in receipt of a permit and a current EA
licence. The Bolton & District Angling Association permit costs
£22.00 per year and is only a small price to pay considering the
fish that are stocked in them.
Fish species stocked:
Eels
Roach
Tench
Perch,
Bream
Pike
There are plenty of tench in both these
waters, in early spring you can see the feeding bubbles which
are normally 'tell tale signs' that tench are feeding with a
frenzy so locating them isn't to difficult. Through the week is
always a good time to fish here because its pretty quite
regarding angling pressure however at weekends it can be quite
the opposite so get yourself down early if you can, here are
some pictures of the Merton waters.
Merton number 1
Merton number 2
Merton number 2 is the smallest
water but don't let it deceive you, this too has
some great fish stocked including large eels.
Best baits:
Maggot, sweet corn, pellet, bread and worm are all
proven baits but don't be frightened of trying
something different, you never know it might just be
the edge you need, fishing is from dawn till dusk
only as it is on all Bolton Anglers waters.
