The Pike paternoster rig:
The Pike paternoster rig can be used for live or deadbaits and it can also be used for fishing over soft or heavy weed. A large sliding float is used with a stop knot situated at the appropriate depth you are fishing. Here's how to set the pike paternoster rig up.
An uptrace is essential to prevent bite offs (where a pike bites the line just above the float).
The treble hook trace is attached to the uptrace.
A length of line to the lead is attached to the bottom of the uptrace, this line is of lesser breaking strain than the main line just to make a 'weak link' in case the lead gets snagged.
The bait is hooked to the rig as shown in the picture below, you can alway attach some PVA string which will help secure the bait to the hooks while casting.
That's how to set up a The Pike paternoster rig. If you have any questions relating to this rig please feel free to contact us, we are always happy to help.
