Red Bridge Lodge is yet another
outstanding water and is run by Radcliffe Anglers.
Again if you want to fish this water it's going to cost you £35.00
per annum. You are allowed to fish two rods on this lodge however if
there is a lot of people fishing then its just common sense to fish
with one. There are some really nice fish in this small but prolific
water including Common/Linear carp, tench, perch, roach and bream,
the carp are up to 25lb the Tench are to my knowledge 8.5lb. Below are just a few pictures I
took of Red Bank whilst I was tinkering with my camera.
The Best fishing method seems to be the pole,
as you can see the fisherman in the picture is using, when I was chatting to him he told me
he had only just arrived and already had 2 fish. The best baits to
use on this water are maggots, worms, caster, bread and sweet corn,
if you use either of them baits your going to bag up. You can also
try canned meet but make sure you sieve it first before adding it to
the hook. Its always a good idea to take some chopped worm with you
as this will encourage frenzied feeding and the bream love it. The
carp like to take bread off the top especially on a late summer's
evening also legering for carp can be quite exciting as well
because when they start to feed all hell breaks lose. The tench go
mad for the worm fished over pellets.
The above pictures will give you a general feel
of how the lodge is laid out, you can see there are no features but
don't be fooled by this! If you look in the picture and cast your
eyes to the wall at the back of the lodge you will find a ledge
under the waters surface, the ledge is approximately 5 feet under
the water with a width of 12 inches so if you can hit this ledge the
Carp will keep you busy for a while believe me. There is ample
parking so you have no need to worry about lugging your gear all the
way to the bank side, the venue is quite noisy as there is a factory
to the back of you and the clatter of fork lift truck forks banging
on the floor is somewhat mundane. Over all the water is very good
but lacks disability access as you have to go through a gate with a
rather large drop to access the water, there are no toilets
available at this location so if the water is busy your up slack
ally! Ha Harr!
