The sliding pike float rig for pike fishing:
There are many different types of pike fishing float rigs you can use to carry out your pike fishing, below is just one of them and one which I use for most of my pike fishing.

First you need to tie a stop knot on your mainline. This knot stops the float sliding any higher than your preferred choice of depth. You can purchase 'Power Gum' for this procedure but I choose to use 25lb line for all my stop knots, it works out cheaper over the years LOL.

Tie a simple knot on to your main line

You now add a bead to your mainline. The bead stops the float interfering with the knot and helps the float to stay at a particular depth.

Slide a small bead on to your main line.

Once you have added your bead, the next step is to add your float to the mainline. This particular float has a hole which goes straight through the middle allowing you to thread your line with ease.

Add a float to your mainline.

Now its time to add a weight that is heavy enough to cock the float once it's in the water, the best type of weight to use is a bullet weight, these weights have a hole in the middle just like the float does.

Adding the weight.

After you've added the weight simply slide another bead on to the mainline, the purpose of this bead is to prevent the weight interfering with the knot which will be attached to your trace.

Now add another bead.

Now you can proceed to tie the knot which secures the pike fishing trace to the mainline. Always use a knot strong enough to with-stand even the biggest pike, you never know what you may catch, I've used a blood knot in this tutorial.

Tying your knot

That was easy enough wasn't it.The picture below is just the other end of the picture above.Top tip! Always use semi barbless hooks when fishing for pike.
