This information is correct at
the time of writing...Worthington Reservoir is a
massive complex and the pictures below are just one of the 3 fishing
waters at the complex with this being the main lake. Mr Neil Smith
(Our local Professional) does say that this is one of the best
waters in Lancashire he has fished. I myself have never fished this
water however I have had a walk round and spoke to local fishermen
who where fishing at the time. They say the Carp in this water are
plentiful and some have reached well over the 30lb mark
As you can see from the pictures,
the main lake is around 20 acres and if you pay attention to the
picture on the left above, the water runs right round the tree line.
Behind the trees there is another 2 acres and in this section there
is suppose to be a good head of Bream which hang around there. When
I was walking round this water there was a fisherman who told me
that he had been there for 2 days and had landed a 20lb common Carp,
when I asked him what bait he was using he told me that Salmon and
Caviar is the venues favourite and that he had caught most of his
fish on this particular bait. As I said this complex has 2 other
waters within close proximity of each other however they are not as
big as the one shown in the pictures.
This water is extremely prolific
and the fish can be caught on a variety of methods and baits,
ledgering is probably the method I would go for. Best Baits: Worm,
Cubed Meat, Sweet corn, Maggot, Bread, Boilies, Paste and prawns, if
you use either of these baits you will find yourself with a good net
full of fish at the end of your session. Disability access: Is sound
as a pound, if you are in a wheel chair then this is a place for you
as you can manoeuvre all around the venue and be able to pick a swim
of your choice without the fear of running in to danger. Now for the
all important prices: This complex is a is going to cost you £42.00
for a season ticket and you have the option of fishing all three of
the waters which Worthington has to offer. At this particular time I
do not have a contact number but I will get one as soon as possible.
Toilets/ Rest Room: None.
Night fishing available.
Location: Chorley, Lancashire.
